Do you love traditional Czechoslovak dishes but also enjoy experimenting in the kitchen? Do you like classic recipes our grandmothers used to cook, yet appreciate modern cuisine too? Then my first cookbook, #UPGRADE, is just for you!

I like to describe this book as a family project. My entire family took part in its creation — especially my grandmother, Pavlínka, who contributed the traditional Czechoslovak recipes such as creamy svíčková, authentic halušky, and the fluffiest homemade sweet buns. I made sure that next to every classic dish, you’ll also find my own reimagined version — the #UPGRADE.

The cookbook is written for everyone - both beginners looking for inspiration and experienced cooks who aren’t afraid to try something new and modern.

Cookbook #UPGRADE is a representative gift from Czech republic or Slovakia.

The book has 264 pages and contains 91 recipes in total:

• 40 of my grandmother’s traditional recipes, including classics such as creamy svíčková or pirohy
• 39 of my own recipes – the #UPGRADE versions of those traditional dishes
• 12 essential recipes, such as homemade broth, butter, or roux

GRANDMA’S RECIPES

My grandmother Pavlína has always been a huge inspiration in my cooking. She has been in the kitchen her whole life, always full of energy. And even though our views on gastronomy differ today, I definitely inherited my cooking genesfrom her.

She started working on the cookbook the very next day after I explained the idea and concept to her. She was unstoppable - cooking enormous portions of every recipe because, as she likes to say, “I simply don’t know how to cook small amounts.”

She contributed 40 traditional recipes from her honest, home-style cooking, and her tips and tricks, refined over years of experience, are included in the descriptions. Thanks to her recipes, even a beginner can master the basics of family cooking. And who knows, maybe one of my grandmother’s recipes will become your family’s new favorite.

MY RECIPES

I watched my grandmother cook and then took her place in our home kitchen to create an innovative version of each of her recipes. I drew on my early experiences as an enthusiastic home cook and on everything I learned during my time in the MasterChef competition.

When we created the #UPGRADE cookbook at home in 2019, I was only 17 years old and I’m proud to say that I still stand firmly behind every recipe in the book, even now, with much more professional experience in the culinary world.

MY BRAND

My brand Made by Kristína was founded in 2016, when I created my Instagram profile. Even before that, I had a Facebook page called “I’m MasterChef”. From the very beginning, every post I shared included my logo and a black background - a visual style that gradually became my signature look and one I still keep to this day. I carried this design into my cookbook #UPGRADE, my website, and my own product line.

Products marked with the Made by Kristína logo from the #UPGRADE collection are original, tailor-made, and locally produced in the Czech Republic. Items that are sewn are made by talented seamstresses from a protected workshop in Moravia, helping to create employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

I stand firmly behind every product I create. I use them daily myself and truly believe you’ll enjoy them just as much.
